Sheikh Al-Tusi (r.a):
The obvious belief of the School of Al-Imamiyya about those who revolted against Amiral-Muminin Ali (a.s) is that those who fight with him are Kafir based on the consensus of the Rightly School on that issue. And their consensus is Hujjah (decisive reason), because it has the Infallible in it (i.e. in this consensus), who does not make mistakes, and that those who fought with him were dissidents of his Imamate and the rejectors of his nomination(by the Prophet (saw)), and rejecting and denial of Imamate is the same as denial and rejection of Prophethood, according to the Prophet's (saw) statement: "Whoever does not know the Imam of his time, he dies the death of Jahiliyya."
