Narrating his crimes and his role in the Killing of Al-Husain (as)
Ibn Kathir:
When Yazid wrote to Ibn Ziyad that he should go to Makkah and besiege Abdullah ibn Zubayr he refused to do so and said:
"By Allah I will not combine two things for a Fasiq (i.e. Yazid). I have already killed the son of Prophet (saw)’s daughter (s.a) (on his order) and now (he asks me to) wage war on Bayt ul Harram (Kaaba)?
However when he martyred Imam Hussain (a.s) his mother Marjana said to him: May you die! what have you done and what crime have you committed, she also scolded him severely. Yazid was informed that Abdullah Ibn Zubayr used to say in his speeches that Yazid was a fraud, drunkard, one who abandons Salat and one who stays with singing women.
[Al-Bidayah Wal Nihayah. Vol. 8, Pg. # 219]
Al Dhahabi:
I say: 'When Yazid did to the people of Madina what he did and killed Al-Hussain and his brothers and his family, and Yazid drank alcohol, and performed abominable things, then the people hated him and rose up against him more than once. God didn't bless his life and Abu Bilal Mirdas bin Adya al-Hanzali rose against him.'
[Tarikh al-Islam. Vol 5, Pg. # 30]
Al Dhahabi:
He (Yazid) was a disgusting Nasibi (i.e. those who hate Ahlulbayt). He drank and did evil. He started his kingdom with the killing of the Shaheed al-Hussain (a.s) and ended it with the incident of al-Harra (i.e. besiegement of Madina which also makes him directly liable for Lanah as sahih ahadith prove). Hence the people hated him, he was not blessed in his life, and many took up arms against him after Imam Hussain (a.s) such as the people of Madina - they rose for the sake of Allah

Sunni scholars Cursing Yazid
Sunni scholar Ibn Al Jawzi wrote an entire book on the permissibility of cursing Yazid titled
كتابه الرد على المتعصب العنيد المانع من ذم يزيد - Refuting the bigot adamant who forbids from criticism of Yazeed

Imam Jalal ud din Suyuti (rah) in Tarikh ul Khulafa:
Al-Taftazani:
And the truth is that Yazid was satisfied with the killing of Al-Hussain (a.s) and his rejoice about it and his insulting of the family of the Prophet (saw) is something that is Mutawatir (mass transmitted Hadith) as a whole, even though its details might be singular reports, but we are not hesitating about him, rather his lack of Imaan, may Allah curse him and his supporters and helpers.
[Sharh Al-Aqaed Al-Nasafiyya. Pg. # 124]
Allamah Alusi:
And I say what is prevalent over my mind that (Yazid) Khabeeth did not testify to the messengership of the Holy Prophet (saw). According to me it is correct to curse a person like Yazid, although one cannot imagine a Fasiq like him and apparently he never repented, the possibility of his repentance is weaker than the possibility of his faith (Iman). Along with Yazid, Ibn Ziyad, Ibn Sa'ad and his group shall also be included. Verily, may Allah's curse be upon all of them, their friends, their supporters, their group and upon everyone who inclines towards them until Qayamah and until an eye sheds a tear for Abu Abdullah Hussain.
[Ruh al-Ma'ani. Vol 26, Pg. # 73]
Sheikh Sulaiman bin Muhammad Al-Bujairumi Al-Shafi'i:
Ahmad ibn Hanbal has a statement about cursing Yazid both directly and indirectly and so has Malik and Abu Hanifa and we have similar statements in the school of Shafi and Al-Bakri also said the same. Some of his (al-Bakri’s) followers said about Yazid ‘may Allah increase his disgrace and put him in the lowest level of hell’”
[Al-Bujairumi Alal Khatib. Vol. 5, Pg. # 91]
Al-Barzanji in al-Isha’at and al-Haythami in al-Sawaiq have recorded:
Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal’s son (Saleh) narrated that he said to his father that he had seen people saying that they love Yazeed bin Muawiya. To this Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal said “For a person having belief in Allah there was no reason to love Yazeed bin Muawiya. Why should the person not be cursed who has been cursed by Allah in the Quran. To this Saleh asked that where in the Quran had Allah cursed Yazeed bin Muawiya. Imam Ahmed replied quoting the verse:
‘Then, is it to be expected of you, if ye were put in authority, that ye will do mischief in the land, and break your ties of kith and kin? Such are the men whom Allah has cursed for He has made them deaf and blinded their sight. Do they not then earnestly seek to understand the Qur’an, or are their hearts locked up by them?’ [47:22-24].
Calling him a non-muslim/disbeliever
Ibn Hajar Al Makki Al-Haythami:
“Yazid reached the worst level of corruption and moral degeneracy to the point that committing evil actions had become the norm. This was to such an extent that Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal declared him a Kafir. Given that he (Ahmad ibn Hanbal) is highly knowledgeable and a scholar of high integrity, he would only issue such statements on account of the actions perpetuated by Yazid that would thus prove such a statement.”
[Al Minah al Makkia fi Sharh al Hamzia. Pg. 519]
Qadhi Saleh bin Mahdi al-Maqbali:
“And even more strange is a person who praises Yazeed who reverted from Islam, the one who insulted the honorable people of this Ummah, dishonouring the sanctity of Madina of Messenger (Sale Allah Aleh Wa Aalihi Wasalam), killed Hussain the son of the Prophet and his Ahlulbayt and humiliated them and he treated them in such a manner that even if the enemies of Islam, the Christians were to do the same acts, they might have been more reasonable.”
[Al-Ilm Al-Shamikh Fi Ethaar Al-Haq Ala Alaba wal Mashaikh, page 367]
His responsibility in killing Al-Husain (as)
Al-Suyuti:
Yazid wrote to his ruler in Iraq 'Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad' for the murder of Hussain (r.a).
[Tarikh Al-Khulafa. Pg. # 125]
Abi Hanifah ibn Ahmad:
Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad: "I killed Al-Hussain due to the reason that he revolted against our Imam (Yazid) and the very Imam (Yazid) sent me the message to kill Al-Hussain. Now if the murder of Hussain is a sin, then Yazid is responsible for it."
[Al-Akhbar Al-Tawaal. Pg. # 278 - 279]
